The most prominent petroglyph at the Leo site is interpreted as a spirit being face such as the horned serpent common during the Mississippian Period in the Eastern United States. The petroglyph has been "colorized" with black pigment to make it more distinct. There is good reason to question if the mouth is a smile or more of straight line. Likewise, the black pigment eyebrows may have been added by the black pigment artist (modern) and not part of the original petroglyph. This is a large petroglyph approximately a half meter tall.
